Tour Season In Review
It's almost provincials season, with BC Under-18s starting next week. It's hard to believe that means the tour season is nearly over.
Our season started at the Anita Cochrane Memorial Bonspiel at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster in late September. We came away without a win in 4 games, but as it was our first bonspiel together as a team it was a great learning and bonding experience.
We next got to participate in the inaugural Junior Grand Slam of Curling U-15 in Beaumont, Alberta in October. We came away with a win in our 1st game before losing the next 2 games, and ultimately missed out on the playoffs being on the wrong end of the last stone draw tiebreaker.
At the Kelowna U-18 Cashspiel in November we lost our first 2 games before winning our final game, and ultimately ended up placing 3rd overall.
In late November, Nate and Brennan participated in the national U-20 Mixed Doubles Qualifier West at the Richmond Curling Club. Against stiff competition often 4 and 5 years older, Nate and partner Jaeda White won 1 game from 4 while Brennan and partner Taylynn McLean didn't win any of their 3 games in the triple knockout event. All 4 curlers really enjoyed the event and are looking forward to future mixed doubles events.
In December we played at the Golden Ears Winter Club Junior Tour Event in Maple Ridge. We came away with 2 wins from 4 games during the event, feeling our games were some of the best of our season.
We have one remaining tour event in late January at the Bill Mills Memorial Junior Bonspiel in Maple Ridge, but our next stops are the championship season - first, the BC U-18 championships and soon after BC Winter Games zone qualifiers!
